Jonathan Hagard
Jonathan HAGARD is a half-French, half-Indonesian filmmaker and animator, currently based in Kyoto, Japan. Inspired by personal experiences and research in sprawling cities such as Tokyo and Jakarta, he tells stories through traditional animation and new media. Replacements, his latest VR story about a Javanese family routinely observing their neighborhood generation after generation, premiered at Venice Film Festival in 2020, won the Excellence award in the Japan Media Art Festival, and the Grand Prix at the Beyond the Frame Festival in 2021.
