How can non-mainstream films find the recognition they deserve? With all the challenges in recent times, sales agents have become more risk averse. Bold, author-driven features and shorts that take narrative and aesthetic risks, often fail to secure sales, despite their potential to reach audiences.
New players are starting to emerge to fill this gap. In this panel we’ll hear from niche sales agents, festival agencies, strategists and filmmakers that have been able to devise alternative ways to distribute and sell their films.
The panel will consist of María Vera (Kino Rebelde, sales agent), Winnie Cheung (director, Residency – Bright Future), Lidia Damatto (morethan, film agency), Kathleen McInnis (publicist and strategist) and Wouter Jansen (Square Eye, sales agent).
