Gebaseerd op een waargebeurde reis in de jaren tachtig van de kunstenaar Jean-Michel Basquiat naar Abidjan. Hij wordt op sleeptouw genomen door de Ivoriaanse schilder Watt en zijn vrienden. Uitgeput door visioenen en depressie speurt Basquiat naar verlossing in traditionele kunst en lokale helende rituelen.
