Mariia Lapidus
Mariia LAPIDUS (Russia) studied filmmaking at VGIK and the California Institute of the Arts. Her short film The City of the Sun (2021) was awarded at Visions du Réel and screened at international festivals. Her work engages with activism, feminism and women’s rights, often drawing on personal histories and social realities. Lapidus recently completed her debut feature addressing sexual violence against women and is developing a sand-animation and live-action documentary project based on her childhood friendship with the son of migrant workers in Russia. She is also writing a new experimental feature and creating a multi-channel video installation involving VR.
