Jonge gevangenen proberen brood te stelen uit een nazitrein. Bewerking van een verhaal van Arnošt Lustig. Němec’ allereerste film kan beschouwd worden als een voorspel tot zijn speelfilmdebuut Diamonds of the Night (1964). Zoals Němec zei, “in Loaf zijn de jongens van plan te ontsnappen en zoeken brood, Diamonds toont hun ontsnapping”.
Wordt vertoond in combinatie met Arnošt Lustig Through the Eyes of Jan Němec en Diamonds of the Night.
