De hele film zou ongeveer een uur moeten duren.” Jonas Mekas in The Village Voice: “The fly is a 45-minute film showing a fly crawling or sitting on a nude female body. As the film went, with Yoko Ono’s singing and John guitar, it gradually became a film opera, with a fly in it. Toward the end of the film more flies join in the crawling trip and the film begins to take a grim and foreboding aspect. But then the film ends.”
