Antonio Skármeta
Still: AufenthaltserlaubnisWriter, screenwriter and director Antonio SKÁRMENTA (1940, Chile) studied literature and philosophy in Chile and at Columbia University, New York. He was awarded the Chile National Literature Prize in 2014. In 1987 he was a jury member at the Berlin International Film Festival. Skármenta lived in exile in Berlin for over ten years and was able to return to his country in 1989. He has written books and radio plays and made the film La Victoria (1973) with Peter LILIENTHAL. Skármenta's short film Aufenthaltserlaubnis (1978) is part of the IFFR 2024 Focus programme: Chile in the Heart.
