Silent cinema introduced an enduring and endearing format: a line of people passes, one by one, before a static camera, presenting themselves. Parker begins her film class by making the students introduce themselves to the camera and microphone. Their different actions and reactions, when strung together in quick succession, constitute a comedy of everyday manners and behaviour.
