Run with the tiger: the IFFR 2024 campaign is here!

27 November 2023

Since 1973, the tiger has been the iconic symbol of IFFR, chosen as a playful nod to the MGM studio logo's lion and its representation of danger, passion, and the courage to forge one's own path – signifying independence within the film industry.

That same year, international protection for endangered plants and animals from threats was agreed upon for the first time. Hence, for this year’s festival campaign, Rotterdam design agency 75B, together with our Festival Director Vanja Kaludjercic, drew a connection between the need to preserve tigers and their habitat with the role of IFFR in defending and preserving filmmaking from all across the world.

“It serves as a beautiful parallel to attending the festival: immersing oneself in a jungle of film genres where you can get lost and make discoveries.”

Rens Muis, 75B said: “We wanted to emphasise our natural habitat, both for the tiger and for humans, in this campaign. We gathered photos featuring tigers in their habitats, cutting them out to create an extensive collage of these natural environments. We added hand-painted tigers in various poses and colours to the jungle collage. Wildly painted typography and a painted version of the iconic logo were added to emphasise the wild and untamed character.

It serves as a beautiful parallel to attending the festival: immersing oneself in a jungle of film genres where you can get lost and make discoveries. The festival is a wilderness where, on your expedition through the forest, you can make the most beautiful discoveries.”
