Remorse, bitterness and psychological inhibitions are conquered in this film thanks to an enormous lust for life. The extremely clear and direct film looks as if it was made spontaneously. However everything was laid out meticulously in advance by Cavalier and his four actors. In the film, four men embark on a journey to the South. The trip heats the individual spirits as well as the general mood in the group. The men relate to each other, but not always from a feeling of affinity. Sex is at the centre of the conversations. Disappointing experiences are however barely compensated by the adventure on the road, not without a degree of anxiety for the future. The world of the four men, funny and bitter at the same time, forms a strange and almost oppressive backdrop. Yet in that world there is apparently a need for real communication.(RP)
