Alain Cavalier
Alain CAVALIER (1931, Vendôme, born as Alain Fraissé) started as assistant to Louis Malle. From 1962, he made features. His oeuvre displays an impressive development. At first he worked in the tradition of classic auteur cinema, but gradually he started to experiment with genres and developed a very personal, unconventional and almost fragmentary style. In 1997, a retrospective of his work was screened in Rotterdam. Memory is an important theme in his later films, for example Le filmeur (2005), Irène (2009) and Le paradis (2014).
