A historical documentary constructed like a modernist musical composition about the Nazi robbery of a special collection of musical instruments. The images are evoked electronically by the music that the film maker (who is primarily a musician) composed in advance. A live performance, played by Deborah Richards, preceded the film. The collection of instruments belonged to the PolishJewish pianist Wanda Landowska; the robbery was performed by the Nazi officer Rosenberg. Zimmermann's project is based on the book Sonderstab Musik by Willem de Vries, in which the robbery was investigated for the first time.
