Walérian Borowczyk

Walérian BOROWCZYK (1923, Poland) is educated as a painter and lithographer. Before gaining a reputation as a director, he began his film career as a graphic designer of film posters. Most of his oeuvre (from 1960), he made in France. His early films, in which he incorporated many animation elements, have been described as tragic and 'para-surrealistic'. Borowczyk's later work became lighter and more erotic.
