Jang Jin

JANG Jin (1971, South Korea) is known as a leading figure in modern Korean culture. After his education in theatre at the art academy in Seoul, he worked as a musician, theatre maker and writer. In 2001, he achieved success as a filmmaker with the dark comedy Guns & Talks. Jang operates at the intersection of humour and humanism. With Good Morning President (2009), he created a fictional image of the life of the president of South Korea. In Welcome to Dongmakgol (2005), he let American, North and South Korean soldiers polarise the local community in a mountain village during the Korean War. This comedy-drama was awarded a Korean Film Award for its script in 2005. Jang strongly believes satire can affect and improve political decisions.
