Iwai Shunji

IWAI Shunji (1963, Sendai City, Japan) wrote and directed numerous music videos, commercials and television dramas before he moved to the cinema and made his award debut Love Letter (1995). In 1994 he was nominated best new director by the Japanese Director's Association for his TV-film Fireworks, Should We See It From the Side or the Bottom? (1993). Iwai has made several feature films since, and also wrote essays, novels and screenplays. For his film A Bride for Rip van Winkle (2016) he was inspired by internet(dating).
