Still: Lanesville UFO Incident

The VIDEOFREEX was a video collective that used the Sony Portapak for countercultural video projects from 1969 to 1978. The founding members David CORT, Mary Curtis RATCLIFF and Parry TEASDALE first met one another at Woodstock Music Festival. Later, seven other creatives joined the group. In 1972, they launched the first pirate television station, Lanesville TV which they used to broadcast participatory forms of media that included collaborations with and contributions from community members, as well as live, invited phone calls where viewers would respond to their screenings. In 2015, Jon NEALON and Jenny RASKIN produced a documentary on the group's history called Here Come the Videofreex.
