Tomita Katsuya

TOMITO Katsuya (1972, Japan) worked as a construction worker and truck driver for years to save money to make films. In 2001, he co-founded KUZOKU. He released his first film, Above the Clouds, in 2003. His second film, Off Highway 20, was released in 2007. Saudade (2011) was based on the history of his hometown, Kofu. The film was nominated for a Golden Leopard at Locarno. His next film, Bangkok Nites (2016), was also nominated for a Golden Leopard. Tenzo (2019) premiered at the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes.
