Sohaib BOUAISS (The Netherlands) is a director and visual artist from Rotterdam. He studied Animation at the Willem de Kooning Academy and graduated in 2020 with his experimental 3D short film A White Screen Is Visible (2020), which received the Wildcard Award from the Dutch Film Fund. The film became part of the Eye Film Museum Experimental Catalogue and was screened at various film festivals internationally. As with A White Screen Is Visible (2020), his work often approaches narrative through surrealistic 3D imagery. In his commercial practice, Sohaib worked as lead 3D artist on campaigns for clients including Greenpeace, Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Rituals, Phillips, Jägermeister, and Sennheiser. His autonomous work explores personal topics of identity and culture, using novel digital techniques such as machine learning, photogrammetry, and hyper-realistic 3D rendering.
