Nanni Moretti

Nanni MORETTI (1953, Italy) is a filmmaker, screenwriter and actor who had instant success in Italy with his second feature Ecce bombo (1978), winning a Palme d’Or nomination. Since then, he has garnered multiple prestigious awards in his career, including a Special Jury Prize at Venice for Sogni d’oro (1981), a Palme d’Or for La stanza del figlio (2001) and a Palme d’Or for Best Director of Caro diario (1994). His work is known for its wry humour and Moretti plays the lead in most of his films, besides acting in films directed by others.
