Maja WEISS (1965, Slovenia) studied film at Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana, and became the first female Slovenian filmmaker to direct a feature-length fiction film for cinema. She has since made dozens of films (short, features and documentaries), which have screened at festivals around the world, including IDFA, DOK Leipzig and IFFR. In 2020, she received a lifetime achievement award for her contribution to film, awarded by the DocuDok Maribor Documentary Film Festival. Child in Time (2004) was nominated for the Golden Bear for Best Short Film at Berlin International Film Festival in 2005. It was selected for IFFR 2023.
