Una ciudad de provincia

Just like every other place in the world inhabited by people and animals, the Argentine country town of Colón, situated by the Uruguay River, offers a fine spectacle of ordinary life: women hurry to their work in the cold, a car has to be push-started, a woman working in a lingerie shop almost falls asleep, street dogs bark and scrounge from a traffic warden and anglers chat over long lines.
Occasionally the camera lingers at a spot, for instance a misty nightclub: taxis wait outside and visitors are searched; inside, girlfriends seek eye contact while the bouncer stands guard. Next morning the birds whistle, while the dance floor is swept clean, with a swinging disco ball as silent witness.
Filmmaker Rodrigo Moreno shares with us fragments of lives and dynamic scenes to show his astonishment at uncut life, devoid of drama. Together, these composed and comforting documentary images form a lyrical ode to everyday life.
