What is the traveller looking for? Does travel have any purpose? These are the questions Anna Sanmarti poses to herself in this documentary. Sanmarti started travelling at a young age: almost instinctively, she says herself. From the very first images of The Land Inhabited, when the journey starts from St Petersburg to Mongolia, it's clear that she is more than an experienced traveller. Sanmarti, who previously cooperated with Joaquim Jordà, went looking for a place on earth that could hold a mirror up to her. The result is an almost tangible visual poem with great feeling for detail. She gets down to the essence of travelling. The long journey, in which the landscapes, sounds and faces slowly change, heads from Ulan Bator into the empty interior, after encounters in Kathgal, with the postman, towards the final destination: the tribe of reindeer riders called Chaatan. Produced by Marta Andreu, supervisor of the master's programme at the Universidad Pompeu Fabra.
