B-Side by the Barcelona film maker Eva Vila offers a kaleidoscopic picture of Barcelona and its music. For a whole year, Vila lived with a small team of film makers amongst a group of musicians making contemporary music, dance music and jazz. The result is a glimpse of the creative process before the moment when the curtain opens, a glance at the magic moments that are not seen by audiences but which are important in order to interpret the music properly. In an apparently improvised way, the camera captures the rehearsals, the time in the bar and night life, the musicians studying or doing exams. The result is a kind of detective film and collective musical biography at the same time, in which the characters and their stories appear, disappear and suddenly turn up again. Vila has been the coordinator of the Pompeu Fabra’s Master and Documental de Creació since 2004.
