Currents status &amp; Goals at CineMartWe are looking for Nordic, Canadian, French co-production partners as well as Streamers, TV co-production/presales, distributors and sales agents.&nbsp;Synopsis1918. An arctic expedition, lead by Danish explorer Knud Rasmussen, is bound for the north tip of Greenland to explore unexplored lands. Troubled by colonial guilt, Knud has employed local celebrity hunters,Nasaitand&nbsp;Inuk,&nbsp;on equal terms with the decadent Swedish botanist,&nbsp;Dr. Wulff,&nbsp;and young progressive Danish geologist,&nbsp;Lauge.&nbsp;To honor Inuit tradition, they carry no canned foods, relying only on hunting and a firm supply of tobacco. The alpha males clash even before departure, but an assistant at the trading post they are starting from,&nbsp;Hendrik,&nbsp;shows rare ego management skills that secures him a lucky spot on the expedition. Hendrik is a proud Christian Inuit from the south who embraces the modernity of a colonial Greenland, and quickly befriends Wulff who invites him into his tent, and into the dark melancholic mind of a scientist who believes, that fame is his only saviour. Meanwhile, Knud ignores warnings from the hunters about the lack of game in a desperate push to plant his flag further north than his American rival. Hendrik is constantly smoothing out disputes that build as the weeks go by. With no flowers in sight and diminishing rations, Wulff descends into existential angst, and ultimately halts the expedition with a violent outburst of arctic hysteria. Knud is devastated, but forced to turn back, when Hendrik offers to stay behind with Wulff, so they can continue. Knud smiles, orders Nasait and Inuk to stay behind as well to hunt meat for the return, and puts Hendrik in charge, while he takes off with Lauge and the flag. Hendrik is suddenly the boss of a difficult party. Wulff refuses to leave his sleeping bag, while the pretentious hunters regard Hendrik as a complete sell-out. The hunt is still grim, and Inuk begins to suspect that Hendrik&rsquo;s white god, the dead man on the cross, is the source of their misfortune. Hendrik will not adhere to primitive beliefs, and a theological dispute breaks out. Nasait is worried about his killer reputation back home, and they decide to move to an igloo away from Hendrik&rsquo;s Christian relics. Wulff joins them and recovers his appetite for life in an ancient black magic rite to make peace with the spirits. Hendrik ironically falls through the ice as he tries to speak with his god. Saved, but unconscious and tent-bound for weeks, Hendrik wakes up to find that Wulff is running an ethanol fuelled rebellion and plans to bail. Hendrik has to take extreme measures to save their party, before Knud returns, but ultimately, he has to come to terms with his own roots and alliances.&nbsp;&nbsp;Directors' BiographyIllum Jacobi comes from a background in mountaineering and has lead expeditions to obscure mountain ranges in the Amazon and remote corners of the arctic. He began his film-making career as a high altitude cameraman on North Face adventure sport films but grew tired of the heroic images of men conquering nature. Illum began to develop stories of more complex encounters based on his own experiences in the wilderness, and has set out to complete a series of narrative films that investigate our relationship to nature. His first feature, The Trouble With Nature, is an 18th-century road movie with philosopher Edmund Burke on a desperate search for a sublime wilderness. Filmed in remote parts of the Alps, the film investigates the need to master our own experience of nature. The film premiered at the International Rotterdam International Film Festival in 2020. His second film, Another Journey without Women, is currently in development: a tragic comedy set on an arctic expedition in Greenland.&nbsp;
