Goals at CineMart We are interested in meeting potential co-producers and other financial partners along with sales agents and distributors.Synopsis Remanso takes place in Asunci&oacute;n (Paraguay) in 1975, during one of the most brutal periods of Alfredo Stroessner&rsquo;s dictatorship. Carmen belongs to a traditional family and lives among people of her own social standing and who share her values.Nonetheless, her naivet&eacute; begins to crumble when she and her husband see a peasant girl, in a neighboring house, inert, with signs of having been sexually assaulted. Besides the horror of the crime, Carmen is very shocked once she remembers a scene from when she was a child: her father hurrying out of his studio where a young criadita&nbsp;had just been abused. Carmen is so badly affected that she cannot reconnect to her peaceful, everyday life. Later, she finds out the house belongs to a Colonel and her husband insists on forgetting what they saw. Carmen lives a lonely existence; she can&rsquo;t forget the case and she needs answers in order to understand something that has also marked her own story.Carmen then goes out of her social circle to talk to a newspaper editor. His advice for Carmen is that she should go to a clandestine communist newspaper. Carmen does not agree.She manages to move again, to literally get away from the problem. But before doing so, Carmen finds out that there have been girls held prisoners at the Colonel&rsquo;s house repeatedly. Contradicting her own ideology, she goes to a clandestine newspaper. At this point, although Carmen takes on a heroine&rsquo;s attitude, by putting her morality to the ultimate test, she doesn&rsquo;t realise what could really happen to her for reporting it. In the end, Carmen is put in jail, and she experiences the other side of the dictatorship. She goes from being a witness, to becoming a victim. Although her father gets her exiled due to their political connections, Carmen undergoes a profound change in her values. Once in exile, Carmen finally manages to report the crime.&nbsp;Director&rsquo;s BiographyPablo Lamar was born in Asunci&oacute;n (Paraguay) in 1984. He studied film at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires (Argentina). He has written and directed the short films Ahendu Nde Sapukai (2008) and Noche Adentro (2009), both of which premiered at the Semaine de la Critique of the Cannes Film Festival, and received awards worldwide. La &uacute;ltima tierra, his first feature film, premiered at IFFR 2016, where it received the Hivos Tiger Jury Award for artistic achievement.&nbsp;It also received the&nbsp;Best Film award the Sao Paulo Latin-American Film Festival 2016 and the Prix D&eacute;couverte in the Cin&eacute;latino Rencontres de Toulouse 2016. The Habana Film Festival also awarded the Artistic contribution to La &uacute;ltima Tierra. He also works as a sound designer for film, having collaborated with several Latin American directors, having received several awards for this category.In theatre, he has directed the pieces Cine Splendid (2017) and Conto Anonimo (2018), both in collaboration with Sara Pinheiro, co-writer of the script of Remanso.

During the Paraguayan dictatorship, Carmen, who belongs to a traditional family (supporter of the dictator’s party), discovers that a girl was raped and murdered in the house of a neighboring military officer. A terrifying reality she had yet to face startles her daily life. Carmen fights against the silence imposed by her surroundings until she manages to report the crime.
