Goals at CineMart First of all we are very interested in sharing our project, generating conversations and getting feedback from filmmakers, sales agents and distributors from around the world. We are interested in meeting potential co-producers and financial partners that can help us close our financial gap and that could also be interested in contributing with the artistic and technical needs. Although we are at an early stage, the possibility of presenting the project can help us engage with potential sales agents and distributors.Synopsis The Ivy deals with the reunion of two characters separated by a brutal occurrence&mdash;a mother and son who appear almost be at the same age. The Oedipus complex, maternity from the instinctive to the impossible, the universe of orphans in Ecuador and the &ldquo;aging out&rdquo; of those who are never adopted are the themes explored in The Ivy, as well as Azucena&rsquo;s wounded sexuality, hypnosis, the ravages of her disease, and encounters with many different bodies: her grandfather, her son, the men at the club, and with her own and her elasticity.Director&rsquo;s Biography Ana Cristina Barrag&aacute;n is an Ecuadorian screenwriter and director. She studied filmmaking at the University San Francisco de Quito, with a minor in still photography. Her debut feature Alba premiered at the 2016 IFFR where it has received the Lions Film Award. The film was screened at over 100 international festivals and received more than 30 awards, most notable of which are the Special Jury Award at Horizontes Latinos of the 2016 San Sebasti&aacute;n International Film Festival, FIPRESCI Award at the 2016 Cin&eacute;latino Rencontres de Toulouse, Best Actress at the 2016 Mumbai Film Festival, Best Feature Film at the 2016 Festival de Lima, and Best Film of the 2016 International Women&rsquo;s Festival of Cologne. La piel pulpo, now in post-production, was developed with consultation of experts at the Talent Script Station of the 2018 Berlinale, the Sundance Screenwriter&rsquo;s Lab in 2018. It has received development support from the Hubert Bals Fund, the Ecuadorian Film Institute and the Ibermedia Program as well as production support from the World Cinema Fund and the NFF+Europe. The Ivy is her third feature.

31-year-old Azucena decides to find the son she gave up after an unwanted pregnancy when she was 13. Julio, her 18-year-old son, is in his last year at an orphanage.
