Goals at CineMart We aim to raise international awareness for L&eacute;gua and test the project&rsquo;s potential to reach European and international audiences. We hope to meet potential partners and decision-makers &ndash; film festival representatives, sales agents, distributors, broadcasters, financiers and other buyers who share our creative vision, in order to close proposed financing plan, with a gap of 10%-20% still open. We are searching for co-producing partners particularly from Ibero-America (Latin America, Spain, Italy) but also from other European countries. We are looking to establish a network and meetings with potential co-producers and other professionals who could participate in future productions of Desvia and Uma Pedra no Sapato.Synopsis The Botica manor house, in a village in the northern interior of Portugal, has been looked after for over 40 years by friends and accomplices Ana and Emilia, representatives of two generations of rural workers. Ana, a hard-working 50-year old woman is married to Victor, who, once again, is moving to France for work. She is also the mother of M&oacute;nica and Ricardo, who have both moved away to study. When Emilia (70) becomes seriously ill, Ana proposes to take care of her friend, in a mixed gesture of obligation and selflessness - Emilia has no family and cannot be left alone to fend for herself in the big house, which the Lisbon owners have stopped visiting regularly. Guilherme, a Jesuit priest and the brother of the owner of the house, appears for one of his short, chaotic stays at Botica. He disappears shortly afterwards and, as is his custom, leaves without any explanation. Ana&rsquo;s daughter, Monica, brings a friend to visit the village and is, like her father, unhappy with her mother&rsquo;s choice. Monica, who studies in the nearby city of Porto, sees no future for her mother in the village which, like many other rural small towns, has been declining over time.The dynamics of the household slowly evolve, the relationship between Ana and Emilia changing as her illness worsens: the unspoken, the friction, the inevitable provocations generate small daily bouts of violence. Then a new threat appears - the house has, without Ana&rsquo;s knowledge, been handed over to a real estate agent, who makes a visit to put it in her catalogue of properties for sale. Despite the friendship pact between Ana and Emilia and the effort to keep everything as it always was, Ana feels increasingly pressured and lost, involuntarily dragged into the situation in which she finds herself, from which she can see no way out. Ana has to deal day after day with the decay of Emilia&rsquo;s body and mind.Director&rsquo;s Biography Filipa Reis (1977) and Jo&atilde;o Miller Guerra (1974) have co-directed films selected and awarded in festivals such as IFFR, Cin&eacute;ma du R&eacute;el, New Directors/New Films Festival, IDFA, DokLeipzig, BAFICI, FIDOCS, Festival dei Popoli and DocLisboa, among others. Djon Africa, their debut feature film, premiered at the 2018 IFFR (Tiger Competition), received the FIPRESCI Award and a Jury Special Mention at the 2018 Uruguay International Film festival and was released in Portugal, Brazil, UK and Germany. L&eacute;gua is their second narrative feature. In 2008 they founded their production company, Uma Pedra No Sapato, based in Lisbon, where they are currently developing international co-production features by prize-winning Portuguese directors Miguel Gomes, Margarida Cardoso, Marco Martins and newcomers Leonor Teles (Golden Bear Award at Berlinale Shorts), Sofia Bost and Duarte Coimbra (Cannes - Semaine de la Critique). Under the brand Vende-Se Filmes, Filipa and Jo&atilde;o have also directed and produced over 100 hours of engaging and independent television content broadcasted in prime time national network and cable TV.

Northern Portugal, the village of Légua. The Botica manor house is looked after by good friends Ana (50) and Emilia (70), two generations of rural workers. Emilia who has cared for the house for over 40 years, becomes seriously ill and Ana takes it upon herself to look after her friend and ensure that she can stay in the manor house until the very end.
