Visit the Opening Night: Dirty God & Party 2019!
It’s the big, eagerly anticipated moment: the official launch of IFFR 2018. Get the festival off to a flying start on Wednesday 24 January with the opening film Jimmie by Jesper Ganslandt, followed by a peerless dance party. The perfect start to the twelve days and nights of festival ahead.
Four-year-old, blonde Jimmie has to flee his home in Sweden. In this gripping, impressionist film, Jesper Ganslandt (Falkenberg Farewell, The Ape) turns a real crisis upside down and depicts a horrific flight through Europe through the eyes of a child. At times exciting and fun, but more frequently heart-rending.
The IFFR kick-off with the opening film in Pathé Schouwburgplein is open to all. After the film, the audience move over to ‘de Doelen’ for the opening party.
After the opening film, DJ and turntablist Git Hyper will step behind the decks in ‘de Doelen’. If you don’t know him as the regular DJ on programmes such as Raymann is Laat and The Comedy Factory, then maybe from Rotterdam rap act DuvelDuvel. He was also involved in successful acts such as Zuco 103 and Caro Emerald, and he was the first DJ to perform music composed by him with the Metropole Orchestra.
PLEASE NOTE: Opening Night: Jimmie & Party starts at 21:00 hours, a little later than the official opening for invitees in ‘de Doelen’.
