Cynthia Madansky’s Viva áqua is based on the philosophical book Áqua viva (1973) by Clarice Lispector. It is a meditation on the book, which itself is a stream of consciousness with a certain musicality thanks to certain passages repeating. The film echoes this with its alternations of text, processed film, abstract colour fields and scenes around a house. Viva áqua reveals itself as a narrative-less musical dream.
