The director saw an electric guitar with the text ‘rock ‘n’ roll never dies’ in the window of a pawn shop. This became the start of the hilarious story about Tiger, an aging and far too honest student with much too generous parents who dreams of becoming a guitar legend. He attends an evening course in creative writing in order to be inspired to write song lyrics. His songs are inevitably autobiographical: they are about his parents, about his brother who died too young and about his heroes Jack Nevada and Pumppu, who played together 20 years ago in a band.
When the only factory in Tiger's hometown is threatened with closure, Jack Nevada turns out to be the owner. He then invites Tiger to come and play in Helsinki, where he recruits representatives for the wonder drug Eternal Youth that he recently put on the market. Tiger finds himself in the tarnished world of commerce.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Never Dies is a modern parable about the noble perseverance of a strange and ambitious guitarist who doesn't sell his soul to the devil but remains faithful to his own ideals. Constructed around rock classics and flashbacks, the film is filled with humorous allusions and visual witticisms that will not pass unnoticed for the rock 'n' roll lover. (SdH)
