Andrzej Kondratiuk is rather an outsider in the Polish filmworld. He makes his films entirely on his own and is a celebratedcult film-maker in his home country. Reason enough to screen twoof his films in Rotterdam. Both films have a veryautobiographical character; you could say that what happens toKondratiuk at a certain point also has a place in the film.In Patrick Robertson's Guinness Book of Movie Facts andFeats (1993) we can read: 'Andrzej Kondratiuk, Polishdirector, is the most versatile film-maker if we look at just howmany functions he fulfils when making a film. He didn't justdirect his film The Four Seasons (1984), he was alsoproducer, scriptwriter, cameraman, art director, composer, musical director, props man, lighting operator and actor. Theonly other credit on the film was for editor Maryla Orlowska.'
