Racy colourful comedy filled with humorous references to other films. Marie Louise is an American in Paris and the kind of girl that gets lost at the station when she wants to collect her boyfriend Jean-Paul, returning on leave form military service. Jean-Paul waits desperately for her at the Gare de l'Est, which Marie Louise races through night-time Paris from the Gare du Nord Paris. People who want to avoid each other keep bumping in to each other, but the ones looking continue their quest in vain. A complicating factor is that there are lots of people called Jean-Paul or Marie Louise. Stations are also populated by people who don't really belong there and therefore have plenty of time to get in the way. And that in turn attracts the police who can't fathom the situation either.
