Watanabe Fumiki

Fumiki Watanabe (1953, Fukushima) was a teacher when he started making films. After his first two Super-8 films, he acquired an interest in avant-garde film, especially in exploring the frontier between documentary and fiction. He experimented with the latter in eleven short films. His first 35mm film Shimaguni konjo (screened in Cannes in 1990) also focused on that experiment.
