Mukai Kan

MUKAI Kan, born MUKAI Hiroki (1937-2008, Japan), established his own production company, Mukai Production (later renamed Shishi Production) in 1965. After his feature début Flesh (1965) he directed more than 100 sexploitation films, so-called pink movies. He became one of the most important directors of the heyday of pink movies in the 60s and 70s. As producer he raised several generations of young directors, among them Takita Yojiro, Sato Hisayasu, Zeze Takahisa and Imaoka Shinji. Later, beginning with Going West in 1997, he directed a number of independent films about elderly people.
