Kaneko Yu
Still: Film FetishKANEKO Yu (1974, Japan) is a writer, film critic, filmmaker and Associate Professor of Tama Art University. His documentary films include Belgrade 1999 (2009), Muneo-ism (2012), Imperial (2014), A Man Who Became Cinema (2018) and Mlabri in the Woods (2019), which have all been theatrically released in Japan. Kaneko also works as an editor of the documentary magazine neoneo, as a programme director for Tokyo Documentary Film Festival, and as a researcher at the Institute for Art Anthropology. He's also published several books on the history of cinema and cultural anthropology. His most recent documentary, Film Fetish (2023), was selected for IFFR 2023.
