Algimantas Puipa was born in 1951 in Antaliepte, Lithuania. He studied from 1974 at the Moscow Film School (VGIK) and worked as director at the Lithuania Film Studio. His debut was the two-part Kelio zenklai from 1974, with which he graduated from the film school. Various films by Puipa were selected for national and international festivals. Rotterdam has shown his film Bilete lidz Tadzmahalai in last year's programme.
