Aleksandr Kosarev

Director, screenwriter, actor and songwriter Aleksandr KOSAREV (Russia, 1944-2013) was the son of well-known Soviet photographer Boris Kosarev. He graduated from Schepkin Theater School in 1965 and entered the Moscow Youth Theater together with Inna Churikova and Tamara Degtyaryova. Following this he studied directing and graduated with his film One Hundred Steps in the Clouds (1973). In his films, Kosarev valued music and worked closely with multiple composers including, Alexey Rybnikov, Igor Krutoy and Yuri Antonov. His collaboration with Chilean filmmaker Sebastián Alarcón Night Over Chile (1977) screens at IFFR 2024.
