Films op Zuid – Fantoomwijk

IFFR, Library Rotterdam and Theater Zuidplein will screen the short film Fantoomwijk together with filmmaker Ravi Sandberg on Saturday 28 October 2023 at 14:00. This event is free to attend.

About Fantoomwijk
The Tweebosbuurt in Rotterdam has turned into a ghost town. After the residents were uprooted to make space for luxury homes, all that remains are ruins and rubble. Fantoomwijk gives a voice to the residents, who reminisce about their own neighbourhood that was erased from the city. The film investigates how perceptions determine policy and the ensuing impact on those affected. Filmmaker Ravi Sandberg won the RTM Pitch Prize at IFFR 2022, which allowed him to realise this film.

Using Fantoomwijk as a case-study, workshop participants will engage in a discussion about the identities and changes of their own neighbourhoods. The participants will then collectively create a moodboard consisting of three parts, that could function as a base for a film about their neighbourhood.

The workshop will be given in Dutch. The film is in Dutch with English subtitles. There’s a limited capacity, so please reserve your seats before through the link below.
