How does the virtual queue work?

How do I join the queue?

You can join the queue by clicking on an order button (for example, from the programme schedule) or by logging in. Due to the ticket sale preparations, it will not be possible to log in, see films from the schedule or order tickets between 19:30 and 20:00 on both ticket sale start days. Between 19:30 and 20:00, a 'pre-queue' will be activated. At 20:00, everyone who is in the 'pre-queue' at that point will be allocated a random number in the queue. If you join this pre-queue and leave the browser window open, you will be automatically placed in the queue at 20:00. If you close the window during this period, you can join the queue again by logging in on the website from 20:00 onward.

What should I do while in the queue?

You don't have to do anything! We will offer you some entertainment on the queue page – all you need to do is keep an eye out for when it’s your turn. Tip: to make sure things go smoothly, make sure to use only one browser and avoid having multiple tabs open.

What can I do in advance?

You don't need to go to the website too long before 20:00. At 20:00, everyone who is in the 'pre-queue' at that point will be allocated a random number in the queue. So it doesn't matter whether you are there at 19:30, or just a few minutes before 20:00. Everyone has the same chance of being at the front of the queue. If you arrive after 20:00, however, you will join the back of the queue. You can prepare for the launch of ticket sales by doing the following:

Make sure you have a stable internet connection and only one browser open
Losing your internet connection is a common reason why an order cannot be completed or for having to join the back of the queue.

Create a personal account
You can sign up for a personal account by clicking on the little figure in a circle at the top right corner of this website. N.B.: you can't do this between 19:30 and 20:00 on Thursday and Friday.

Set up your own personal agenda
You can see the festival programme on this page from Wednesday, 10 January 2024. You can mark the films and events you want to attend as favourites by clicking on the heart on the film or event page. You can then set up your own personal agenda based on your favourites in one go. Do this by looking at your favourites in your personal account and then clicking on the agenda-button. You can also add individual screenings or events to your agenda from the page about the film or event. As soon as ticket sales have started, you will find your personal agenda in your account, and from there you can place your planned films and events in your basket. N.B.: it will not be possible to log in on Thursday and Friday from 19:30 to 20:00.

Turn the sound up on your computer
The queue system uses a sound to let you know when it is your turn to buy tickets.
