BoostNL

A Tied Woman

In an Andean community in Peru, a nurse dutifully complies with her superiors' instructions in order to attain her long-awaited transfer to the capital, ignoring the consequences of the mass sterilization campaign carried out by the government.

What have you achieved so far with the BoostNL programme?

Boost NL helped us work deeply on our pitch and receive enriching feedback regarding possible international audiences. Within the framework of the HFM, we could join online meetings with potential co-producers and allies in the project's production. Through September and October, thanks to the Boost NL program, we had meetings with María Ignacia Court from the Quipu Project and Ñusta Carranza from the University of Baltimore School of Public and International Affairs, specialists that have researched the forced sterilization cases in Peru, and Ana Sanz Magallón, script consultant. Learning from their different approaches expanded our research sources and helped our scriptwriters gain more depth in writing. As of today, a third script version of A Tied Woman has been written and translated into English (October-November 2023). We now finally have a much stronger script and an updated portfolio, thanks to this support.

What would be your ideal next steps for your project?
A Tied Woman is in the development stage; with a third version of the script, we are ready to pitch the project to possible international co-producers and financial partners. We look forward to completing funding by the end 2024. Shooting is planned to start in Cusco in 2025. It would be ideal to contact potential collaborations with sales agents and distributors at this early stage of the project.
