Sophie Luo

Sophie Luo is a producer based in New York working across film, art, and commercial spaces. Her recent projects include Too Bright to See, Part I (dir. Madeleine Hunt-Ehrlich), currently installed at the Pérez Art Museum Miami; Onlookers (dir. Kimi Takesue), which had its international premiere at the Centre Pompidou in Paris; and Conspiracy (dirs. Simone Leigh and Madeleine Hunt-Ehrlich), which played at the 2023 Berlinale, 2023 MoMA Doc Fortnight, and 2022 Venice Biennale. She produced the feature film The Ballad of Suzanne Césaire, which premiered at IFFR 2024 in the Tiger Competition. Additionally, she has produced commercial work for clients such as Nike, TED, Google, Facebook, Timberland, Gap, and more. Sophie was named an inaugural member of Women In Film’s Emerging Producers Program.

Scallion Studio is an independent production company focusing on formally innovative work by filmmakers and artists. We take an idea, add water and sunlight, and watch it grow. Scallion Studio supports its artists by bringing together a diverse group of collaborators and customised production structures for each artist and project.
