Sophie D'Souza
Sophie D’Souza is a Copenhagen-based producer at Zentropa. She holds a master’s in Management of Creative Business Processes, a bachelor’s in Film and Media Studies, and worked for eight years at Nordic film distributor Scanbox. When attending the National Film School of Denmark, Sophie teamed up with fellow producer Anne Falkesgaard Hansen, with one of their many graduation films being selected for Cannes, La Cinef section. The producer partnership still stands years later as they produce projects by upcoming talent, while also working with seasoned Academy Award-winning producer Sisse Graum Jørgensen on high-profile Zentropa projects. Always eager to gain new perspectives, Sophie has attended several producer programmes, including Nordic Film Lab, Visitor’s Programme at Berlinale Co-Production Market, and Nordic Producers Club+.

With a back catalogue consisting of 275+ titles, Zentropa is one of the most prolific and notorious Scandinavian and European production companies today. Alongside producing feature films, Zentropa is now engaging substantially in the production of TV series. The portfolio of the company, who launched the DOGME 95 movement, includes a comprehensive list of awards and accolades. Among them are two Academy Awards, six Academy Award nominations, a Golden Globe, five Golden Globe nominations, five Palms at the Cannes Film Festival, three Bears at the Berlinale and 22 European Film Awards. The vast majority of Zentropa’s films and TV series are international co-productions.
