Shehrezade Mian
Shehrezade Mian is a Pakistan-born, creative producer based between Toronto and Pakistan. Mian is a 2021 alumnus of the Toronto International Film Festival-Netflix Talent Accelerator and a graduate of the European Audio-Visual Entrepreneurs (EAVE) Access Program for producers in 2022. From 2022-2023, Mian served as the production and development manager at Hawkeye Pictures where she worked on international feature titles which screened at Toronto International Film Festival, BFI London, Busan International Film Festival and more. Mian’s films have played at world renowned festivals such as Berlin International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Jeonju International Film, Black Canvas Contemporary Film Festival, and more. She is currently in development for her next feature film.
Markhor – Canada/ Pakistan
Markhor is an independent film production company founded by Shehrezade Mian. In 2022, Markhor burst out of the gate with its critically acclaimed feature film, Concrete Valley by Antoine Bourges, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, followed by an international premiere at the Berlinale in 2023. Markhor seeks to champion unique voices from across the globe and places an emphasis on auteur driven cinema that explores innovative ways of storytelling. Markhor also runs a mentorship program for new immigrant filmmakers of South Asian and/or Muslim descent, which is the first of its kind in Canada.
