Rhea Plangg

Rhea Plangg grew up in Zurich and holds Swiss and German citizenship. She graduated in political and contemporary history as well as media studies. After staying in Rome, she worked in PR in Cologne and Zurich.

Starting in 2012, she turned to film via documentary research (including L'expérience Blocher, J-S Bron, Bande à Part Films, Locarno ‘13). In addition to producing short films from 2015, she works as 1 AD, or casting director (Soul of a Beast, L. Merz, Locarno 21; Unrest C. Schäublin Berlinale, 22). In 2018 she gets involved in the development and co-production of feature films (including Sauvages, Claude Barras, Something You Said Last Night, Luis de Filippis, TIFF, San Sebastian, Rotterdam). 

In 2021 she founded her own company, Lido Pictures. She continues to work with Amka Film based near Lugano, known for their collaboration with Alice Rohrwacher (Invelle, S. Massi Venice Orizzonti 23, Beutset A. Mendy in distrib.). In particular she’s passionate about supporting emerging talents and developing politically and socially relevant stories, told in their own visual language. Rhea is fluent in German, French, English and Italian.
