Refashioning Development: Future- Proofing Stories and Process

The genus of all content creation is the development process. How can we better understand and exploit stories and audiences in order to remain relevant in a rapidly changing world?

On Sunday, 27 January this conference will give the stage for one whole day to experts and audience in three panels, to talk about the changing landscape of audiences and stories, ways to innovate within the development process and development funding outside traditional models.

Please Note: please feel free to ask questions, give remarks and suggestions during the panel discussions as we would like the conference to be as interactive as possible.

Welcome & keynote - 09:30 - 10:00h

Reality Check kicks of with a welcoming speech by IFFR festival director Bero Beyer and a keynote speech by Caroline Monnet.

Panel 1: New audiences / New stories - 10:00 - 11:30h

A panel discussion on how storytellers are rising to the challenges of the changing audience landscape to get their stories seen and heard. With amongst others founder of the British Blacklist Akua Gyamfi, Dutch filmmaker Nanouk Leopold and Populace producer Tamir Muhammad.

Panel 2: Alternate practices in development - 11:30 - 13:00h

A panel discussion on ways to innovate within the development process and explores learnings from a variety of storytelling disciplines. With amongst others multidisciplinary Berlin and LA-based filmmaker Noaz Deshe, producer of the Netflix hit series The End of the F***ing World Dominic Buchanan and animation, documentary and new media producer Bruno Felix.

Panel 3: Funding models of the future - 14:30 - 16:00h

A panel discussion on where and how to access development funding outside traditional models. With amongst others development and funding expert Linda Beath, Thai pioneer film director Pipmpaka Towira, Oliver Mahrdt of blockchain company SingularDTV and French producer and sales expert Didar Domehri.

Breakout Session - 16:00 - 17:30h

After these three panels speakers, experts, and the audience are invited to discuss these themes further in our break out sessions to work on several key issues in order to come up with possible strategies and advice. These will be presented during the drinks at the end of this day.
