Zhang Yimou at IFFR

ZHANG Yimou (1950, China) is from a generation that was greatly influenced by the Cultural Revolution. He worked on films with Zhang Junchao and Chen Kaige before acquiring international recognition in his own right at the Berlin Film Festival (1988) with his debut feature Red Sorghum. Zhang's lengthy cooperation with star actress Gong Li resulted in a series of films that have received great esteem internationally.
