Wu Pang

WU Pang (1909-2000, China) worked in the pre-war film industry in Shanghai, until he moved to Hong Kong in 1936. There he directed several melodramas. His major breakthrough came when he concentrated on the wuxia genre with The Story of Wong Fei-hung 1 and 2. He has made a total of 59 films about Wong Fei-hung. In 1999, he was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Hong Kong Film Critics’ Association.
