Shannon Murphy

Australian filmmaker Shannon MURPHY grew up in Asia, Africa and Australia. At a young age, Murphy already established herself as one of Australia's leading theatre directors, working with many theatre companies, including Sydney Theatre Company, Griffin Theatre Company and Darlinghurst Theatre Company. In 2013, she graduated in Directing from the Australian Film, Television and Radio School. Her graduating short film, Kharisma (2014), was screened at Cannes, Toronto and Palm Springs and was nominated for an AACTA award in the Social Shorts Comedy category at Interfilm Berlin. Besides theatre and film, Murphy also directed several successful television series, including On the Ropes and Killing Eve. Her first feature, Babyteeth (2019), was selected to compete for the Golden Lion at Venice. For his role, Toby Wallace was awarded the Marcello Mastroianni Award.
