Nakajima Sadao

NAKAJIMA Sadao (1934, Japan) studied Literature at the University of Tokyo before joining the Japanese film studio Toei Company, noted for its anime, live action and historical dramas, in 1959. There, he directed his first feature Female Ninja Magic in 1964. He won Best New Director the following year at the Kyoto Citizens Film Festival, forerunner of the Kyoto International Film and Art Festival, for Yakuza gurentai (1966). Nakajima has made films in a wide range of genres, but is best known for his yakuza films. His first feature in twenty years since Yakuza Ladies: Decision (1998), Love’s Twisting Path has its European premiere at IFFR 2020.
