Nahid PERSSON SARVESTANI (1960, Iran) is a Swedish-Iranian writer and documentary filmmaker. She is one of Scandinavia’s most respected and well-known documentary filmmakers. She graduated and worked as a microbiologist in Uppsala, and managed a radio station before discovering filmmaking. Her works focus mainly on her country of birth and women and their vulnerability, life force, and ability to survive. She has received great international acclaim for her works and her films have been screened at various international film festivals, including Sundance Film Festival. She is known for Be My Voice (2021), My Stolen Revolution (2013), and Prostitution: Behind the Veil (2004). The latter received an Emmy nomination, the Golden Dragon at the Kraków Film Festival, Best International News Documentary at the TV festival 2005 in Monte Carlo, as well as The Crystal Award by SVT (Swedish public broadcasting television) and the Golden Scarab (Guldbaggen) by the Swedish Film Institute in 2005.
